Meet Gary and Bonnie, our first patient of the month double feature! Gary and Bonnie are married and come to therapy together. They spoke to HPT about the experience of going through PT alongside your spouse.
HPT: Why are you coming to therapy?
Bonnie: I’m here for balance. I took your poster [advertising our recent balance seminar] with me to the doctor. He told me to do this and said this is good for anybody over 70. It was getting hard for me to stand at the store, at funerals, at the kitchen sink.
Gary: I’m here for strength and balance. I just knew I needed to be in better shape. I want to be able to go out to my workshop and clean out the barn.
HPT: What is PT helping you achieve?
Bonnie: I’m great. The pain is much less. Standing and walking is better. I feel a lot more confident moving around. I even got out in my yard on uneven ground.
Gary: I feel I’ve got better muscle tone. My arms aren’t as flabby. I feel steadier stepping up and down and I don’t have to hold onto things for support.
HPT: Why Harrison Physical Therapy?
Bonnie: You were recommended by my surgeon. I felt confident to come back for other issues after I recovered from that first procedure. I’ve had multiple joint replacements and come here each time.
Gary: It’s my first time here. I’ve gotten to know you through her coming here and liked what I saw.
HPT: What would you tell somebody with your condition?
Bonnie: To come here.
Gary: I just generally feel better since starting PT. I’ve been more active. I can be up and about a lot longer than I could before. Coming to physical therapy helped my quality of life.
